In my classroom it is important to meet the emotional and academic needs of all my students and I implement several teaching strategies, assessments and techniques to ensure that the needs of my students are being met. Before beginning to teach a unit or lesson I decide what I really want my students to know or be able to do and plan my unit or lesson around those objectives. After planning I want to preassess my students to see who already knows the information or who has misconceptions about the topic. I then use my preassessment to differentiate instruction to those students that need extra support or those that need to be challenged. Below are examples of how I use differentiation in the classroom.
