Class Website
This website was designed for parents and students to refer to for class assignments, events and news. I used this as a way parents could stay involved in their student's classwork and to keep up to date on events happening in our class and our school. I believe it is very important to involve parents in student's lives and the class website is a great way to get parents involved. The only downside to the website is that not every parent or student has immediate access to a computer. I send home a weekly newsletter as another way parents can keep track of class events if they do not have access to a computer. Visit our class website at www.room121.weebly.com or click on the picture below.
Weekly Newsletter
The weekly newsletter, like the class website, is designed for parents and students to refer to for class assignments and up coming events. At the end of each Friday, newsletters are sent home for students to share with parents. Newsletters are supposed to be signed by a parent and returned on Monday.

Write Your Own Book: Publishing Contracts
Write Your Own Book was a project I created for my students to help them practice the writing process and to connect with their parents or guardian. Students were allowed to write on any topic they liked, they just had to use the writing process and follow a few specific guidelines. After working over several weeks on their books students had to find a publisher. The publisher of the book had to be an adult and each had to sign a contract signifying that this book was the best work put forth by the student. In my class, many students failed to turn in quality work. By incorporating the publishing contract aspect into this project I felt it not only included parents in student's work but also had real life application as well. Below is the newsletter I sent home to parents and an example of the publishing contract.
